It's Called Bruins
We trade our best player for average players
Our GM makes bad trades
We get rid of players that show intensity
The owners want to save money

It's called Bruins

Bruins captain Joe Thornton traded to Sharks
The Boston Bruins have traded captain Joe Thornton to the San Jose Sharks for Marco Sturm, Wayne Primeau, and Brad Stuart. I personally don't like this trade. I think O'Connell could have got more for Thornton. What do other Bruins fan think? O'Connell has made some bad trades and moves this season with the Bruins. Dave Scatchard was traded for David Tanabe; Colton Orr was waived and the New York Rangers picked him up; and now the Thornton trade.

Steve Yzerman doesn't like the new NHL
On ESPN.com there is a piece on Steve Yzerman saying he doesn't like the new NHL rules. Some of his quotes are:

"Everybody keeps saying this is great. It's not great. It's not hockey."

I couldn't have said it better myself. Hey NHL/Gary Bettman, you've been hearing it from fans and now you're hearing it from your own players! Wake up! These new rules suck! There needs to be less penalties so there is more hitting and the game needs to be more physical than it is right now.

Bruins coach Mike Sullivan on the hot seat?
After reading today's article "Changes on the horizon: GM ready to makes moves" by Karen Guregian on BostonHerald.com, I get the feeling that coach Mike Sullivan may not make it to the end of this season coaching the Boston Bruins. There's a telling part where the article says, "Bruins captain Joe Thornton claimed the team hadn’t totally bought into Sullivan’s system, which is an interesting assertion." That is very telling and when the captain of the team doesn't believe in the coach then no one on the team is going to.

What are the Bruins going to do? If they fire Mike Sullivan, who then will be coach? Will they be better? Will it be Ray Bourque?

...It's Called Bruins
Bruins fans who watch NESN have probably seen the "It's Called Bruins" commercials and since they've been playing not so good I thought of a few ones they can use :)

-Losing in ovetime
-Not playing physical
-Taking too many penalties
It's called Bruins

If you have any that you want to share, please post a comment with your ideas. (This is all meant as a joke so if you have a problem, leave now :))

Brett Hull retires
Last night Brett Hull retired from the NHL. He had only one assist in five games this season with the Phoenix Coyotes. He is third all-time in goals in NHL history. All hockey fans and the NHL will miss his goal scoring touch.

The NHL may have a TV deal
According to Philadelphia Inquirer, Comcast and the NHL have agreed to a two-year $100 million deal to broadcast NHL hockey games. You can read more about this deal on ESPN.com, http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2130265

What do you think about this? Personally, I would rather have EPSN have hockey but who in their right mind would pay $100 million for two years of hockey. ESPN and ABC weren't getting viewers when they had hockey back two years ago. Will more be viewing now?

Alexei Zhamnov signs with the Bruins
The Boston Bruins have signed center Alexei Zhamnov to a three-year contract. What do Bruins fans think of this signing? I'm thinking when are they going to sign Joe Thornton and Sergei Samsonov instead of all of these other players. Will they sign Thornton and Samsonov? Maybe one of them? What do you think? I hope they both come back and play with the Bruins but I guess we'll have to wait and see. Martin Lapointe is now a former Bruin. He signed with the Chicago Blackhawks. He never did live up to his big signing. I liked the way he played, hard and with grit but he needed to score more and not take that dumb penalty in the playoffs last year.

Leetch is now a Bruin
Today the Boston Bruins signed All-Star defenceman Brian Leetch to a one-year contract. What do you think of this signing? I think this is a great signing. Leetch should bring a lot to the Bruins team.

Bruins Latest Deals
What do Bruins fans think about the new players that the Boston Bruins have recently signed? I really like the additions of Dave Scatchard and Brad Isbister. Both guys are big and can play rough if they have to. I also like the signing of Shawn McEachern, hopefully he can still put up good numbers. Of course the signing of Glen Murray was awesome, now we just need the Bruins to re-sign star players like Captain Joe Thornton, Sergei Samsonov and Andrew Raycroft. I hope to see the Bruins sign some more players in the coming month. Who would you like to see in a Bruins sweater this season?

2004 Stanley Cup Finals
What do you guys think of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Calgary Flames and the Tampa Bay Lightning? I love the way the Calgary Flames play hockey, old school style. The hitting is the best. What do you think?
